- Q. Can I submit more than one entry?
- Yes, there is no limit to the number of entries you can submit. If submitting multiple entries, please prepare an entry form for each submission.
- Q. Where do I submit my entry?
- You can enter here.
Entrants will need to create their own Loftwork.com user account (free of charge) to submit their entry.
- Q. How many Grand Prizes and First Prizes will be awarded?
- One entry will be awarded the Grand Prize and one entry will be awarded the Frist Prize. These two will be selected from all entries in all categories.
- Q. Can we submit entries of works which have already been made public?
- Yes, you can submit works regardless of whether they have already been made public or are yet to be revealed to the public eye.
- Q. Can I still enter if some part(s) of the work has been made non-digitally and has been colored?
- Yes. As long as one part of the works has been digitally fabricated, you can submit the works. Please make it clear on the entry form which part of the works was digitally fabricated and how.
- Q. Will the actual works that I send in for the final selection be returned to me?
- Yes, once the judging and display of winners is over we will return your submission.
- Q. If I win, what personal information of mine will be disclosed?
- The fields on the entry form where it says “Disclosed” will be shared.
- Q. Can I send in my entry via snail mail?
- Entries will only be accepted if they are submitted according to the guidelines stipulated in “How to enter”.
- Q. Can I enter the same works in two or more categories at the same time?
- No, you need to select one category in which to submit your entry. Please pick the category based on the how you would like the judges to view your submission. Please have a look at section 6-2 in the Entry Kit to find out more about the
categories, judging and how the two are related.
- Q. How can I check if my entry has been submitted properly?
- If your entry is submitted prperly, you will receive an email from us.
- Q. What format should the video file be in?
- Please upload the video file to the Web, and write the URL where the video can be viewed on the entry form. Please use the file format specified by the website that you upload the video to.
- Q. I have the data to use in a digital fabrication tool, but don’t have access to a machine. Can I send in my data as my entry?
- No. A condition of entry is that the submitted works must be in its completed state and not in the conceptual or planning stages. Entries will only be accepted for completed submissions made using a digital fabrication tool.
- Q. When submitting work done for a client, do I need to get permission from the client beforehand?
- You can only submit works that you, the entrant, hold the copyrights to.
- Q. Can you list the digital fabrication tools that I can use?
- Digital fabrication tools refer to machines that move using computer numerical control (CNC) and that can be used for individual use. These include, for instance, the laser cutter, 3D printers, milling machines, cutting machines, routers, etc.
- Q. Can I submit works that are difficult to reproduce such as performing arts?
- Performing arts can be submitted. However, you need to submit video footage of the performance.
- Q. I would like to use my native language, which isn’t English or Japanese, in the title of my works. Is that ok?
- No. Sorry, but entries are only accepted in English or Japanese.
- Q. What kind of things should I write for “creative appeal” on the entry form?
- You can write about anything that you would like to draw the judges’ attention to.
- Q. Can companies enter the awards?
- Yes, companies can enter.
- Q. I am having trouble uploading my submission. Who should I contact?
