Join the YouFab kick off party! With presentations from last year's YouFab prizewinners and a crosstalk that will have you feeling the cutting edge of Fab.

The YouFab Global Creative Awards are our global awards celebrating digital fabrication. Fab Meetup’s July event will be happening a special way—as the YouFab 2015 Kick Off Party!

The event will take place in two parts. The first part features AKI INOMATA, who won last year’s grand prize, and Mr. Sugimoto from AgIC Inc., the winner of the first prize. They’ll be giving presentations on their latest projects in the usual Fab Meetups style.
During the second half of the event, we’ll be holding a crosstalk between Creative Director Toshiya Fukuda, who also heads the awards committee, and prizewinners including INOMATA and Sugimoto. Working with the theme of technology and creativity, they’ll be speaking about how the future will change with digital fabrication. Entry to this month’s special-edition Fab Meetup is free of charge.

Why Not Hand Over a “Shelter” to hermit crabs?

Hermit crabs change their shells as they grow. Sometimes they are kicked out of their shelters by stronger hermit crabs and forced to exchange shells. I gave hermit crabs new shells that I had made for them with a 3D printer, and if they liked them, they moved into my “shelters”. The shelters that I made for them represent cities from around the world.

AgIC circuit printing enables rapid prototyping of circuit boards. Circuit printers consist of an off-the-shelf home inkjet printer utilizing specially formulated silver-based ink. With our printers, users need to spend only a few dollars and a few minutes to print a circuit sheet. Moreover, people who become interested in circuits can start printing circuits with software that they are comfortable with, such as Adobe Illustrator or Microsoft PowerPoint.
