YouFab is a global award that recognizes and celebrates creative works and inventions that stem from powerful collaborations between digital and physical fabrication.
We are thrilled to announce the 23 winners of the YouFab Global Creative Awards 2016.
The winners were selected from 196 works from 31 countries.
The winning works will be displayed at Hikarie 8/ CUBE 1,2,3 (Tokyo) from March 8th to 19th, 2017.

He opened the first Fab Lab in Japan and in East Asia. He researches the possibility of digital fabrication from both sides, "technology" and "society." In recent years, he has served in a large number of government committees, notably including the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and has also been involved in policy recommendations such as local creation. He works as a chairman of the "Fab Campus Committee" at Keio University. His specialties include 3D-CAD/CAE/CAM as well as design engineering. He has a PhD in engineering. He is a Fab Lab Japan Founder and a Fab Lab Asia Foundation Board Member.

Natalia helps organizations design and develop initiatives in the areas of design, tech, entrepreneurship, and workforce development. Natalia helps them understand their customers' needs, design programs and processes, create new business models, secure investment, and develop meaningful partnership to extend their reach.
As Business Designer, Natalia is the interface between cross-disciplinary teams working together in emerging fields in Tech. She aligns needs and expectations of different interest groups and uses Design as the unifying vehicle to catalyze innovation.
As Director and part of the founding team of NYDesigns, an incubator for Design and Tech companies in New York, Natalia raised over $11M from federal, state and private investors to develop the program from initial stages to implementation. Under Natalia's leadership, NYDesigns served over 9,000 businesses and created more than 2,000 jobs.

Nicolas Lassabe doctorate in computer science, he completed his thesis on morphogenesis and evolution of artificial creatures. He previously worked as a developer in Silicon Valley in the startup Axolotl. He then completed a post-doc in modular robotics at Creative Machine Lab, Cornell University (USA), where he discovered 3D printing, open-hardware and FabLabs. In 2009, he created in Toulouse, Artilect, the first French FabLab. Artilect is a collaborative open-lab that provides access to digital fabrication tools, which currently has over 1,000 members. Nicolas is also cofounder with Artilect, Autantyk and If, the Multiple, a coworking place to encourage the emergence of collaborative innovation, economic and technology. He worked as a researcher at Onera, it is also board member of the International Association of FabLabs and works as R & D director at Artilect Lab, the professional part of the FabLab, he co-founded. He is vice-president and spokesperson of the French FabLab Network. He is also co-founder of ORCAS, a startup that makes a modular system allowing the realization of machines, robots and connected devices.

Singh Intrachooto received his doctorate in Design Technology, Architecture, from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA); his Master of Architecture from the University of Washington and Rheinis-Westfalische Tecnische Hochschule, Aachen (Germany); a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from the University of Washington (USA) and two Bachelors of Art from the University of Washington, one in Interior Design, one in Architectural Studies as well as a minor in Facility Management.
Dr. Intrachooto is an architect, associate professor at Kasetsart University Architecture, founding director of Creative Center for Eco-design and the design principal of OSISU, Thailand’s leading eco-design venture. He is Design Innovation Ambassador for Thailand’s National Innovation Agency (NIA) and Advisory Committee member for Thailand Creative Economy Agency (TCEA) for 2013-2014. His design and research works have won international awards including G-mark (Japan), DEmark (Thailand), Design for Asia Awards (Hong Kong), Holcim Awards (Switzerland), ITEX Medal and Award (Malaysia and Russia).

Kyle Li is the program director of BFA Design & Technology at Parsons School of Design and an active interaction designer in New York. His body of work and research wraps around playful experiences manifested by interconnected and carefully situated physical and digital components. In 2008, he helped build the world’s first public school that bases its curriculum entirely on game theory. He later won the Best in Class: Innovation award and People’s Choice award from HASTAC and the White House for his design work around game and learning. He collaboratively designed and pushed forward the first complete indie game design pathway and the brand new maker-driven creative technology pathway in his program at Parsons. He recently launched a brand new minor study called Immersive Storytelling, in which students learn to design meaningful experiences, through hardware and software, for virtual reality, augmented reality, projected environment, and interactive theater.

Seeking “Expanded Notion of Curating”, she is a guest professor at Tama Art University and Tokyo Zokei University, lecturer at IAMAS (Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences) and Meiji University. Director of media art festival “AMIT (Art, Media and I, Tokyo)” since 2014, curator of KENPOKU ART 2016. She curated many exhibitions and projects such as at Canon ARTLAB (1990-2001), Mori Art Museum (2002-04) and NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC] (2004-10) as well as independent projects. Her latest works include: SIAF2014 (Sapporo International Art Festival) (Associate Curator), AMIT2015. Shikata participated as a jury to many art and media art awards, published books on media art research (co-author).

At YouFab 2016, there is a special prize from Yamaha Corporation. The theme for the award is "The switch to your emotions.
For those with works related to the theme, you can apply for the special prize at the same time as you do the regular application.
At FabCafe, we will hold workshops and ideathons centering around "The switch to your emotions" from September to October.
The 2015 awards received 152 submissions from 26 countries.
