普段は相手に向かって発していると思っている言葉や声。“Shuttlecock varbals”は、自分の言葉や声の影響を可視化し、改めて自分の発してる言葉に注目することで、どんな影響をもたらすのか体験する作品です。 Usually people emit words and voices with the consciousness that he/she is sending them to the interlocutor. “Shuttlecock verbals” is a device that visualizes the effect of user's words and voices, and make the user experience the influence of words and voices by focusing on spoken words of his/her own.

Why did you make it?
In this world, there are numerous situations that we cannot help feeling our words and voices will never reach. One might be in an environment that conditions never improve how hard he/she plead, or a situation that he/she can do nothing but keep silence being blocked by firm barrier. But words essentially have the power to convey and they fly around the world physically or as a data. In this device, feathers cast light and shake itself as if they are responding to your words and voice. The louder your voices are, feathers will respond more strongly. They express the proper condition of the power that your words and voice have. I hope they feel it.
How did you make it?
A small microphone is attached to each feather. When the user speaks and his/her voice is inputted to the microphone, feathers will shake. Feathers will keep bending down according to volume and time length that user input.
Your entry’s specification
These feathers are not real bird feather, they are paper sheets cut by a laser. On the other hand, unidirectional microphone is installed in front of the user to input user's voice to program. Maxmsp program will apply an effect to inputted voice as if it is resounding in the distance like an echo, and reproduce several seconds after the input. 1 unit (height 60cm x width 30cm x depth 10cm) x 50-60 units Necessary space is 4M x 6M (can be installed freely)
